PR 8

Ice Witch

The ice witch closes a pass completely, and the snow stands in the pass instead of settling. A caravan reaching the marker at the mouth finds the price cut into it, and the price is often a person. The holds on either side have paid it for four generations and keep the account in a ledger, because the alternative is no road until a thaw that she also decides.

Traits

  • Closed Pass

Within the pass she holds, all ground is difficult terrain for every creature but her, and a creature that ends its turn outdoors takes 10 cold damage.

  • Posted Price

The ice witch states her price in writing and honors it exactly, taking neither more nor less than was posted.

  • Chilling Damage

A creature that has taken cold damage from the ice witch since the start of her last turn has its speed reduced by 10 feet.

Actions

  • Multiattack

The ice witch makes two Rime Touch attacks, or uses Standing Snow and makes one Rime Touch attack.

  • Rime Touch

    +8 to hit · reach 10 ft.

    3d8 + 5 cold damage

  • Standing Snow

A 40-foot radius within 120 feet fills with snow that does not fall. The area is heavily obscured. Each creature in it makes a DC 16 Constitution save, taking 8d6 cold damage and having its speed reduced to 0 until the end of its next turn on a failure, or half as much and no reduction on a success.

  • Ice Wall

The ice witch seals a 60-foot span of the pass behind a wall of ice 10 feet thick with Armor Class 12 and 120 hit points. It lasts until she lifts it or winter ends.
