Krampus

Krampus works the gift-giver's route a night ahead of him, carrying birch rods for the children who can be corrected and a basket on his back for the ones who cannot. His chains announce him a street early. A household that hears the bells, puts the children to bed and leaves schnapps on the step is safe from him, because he cannot enter a dwelling with an offering outside the door.

Traits

  • Bells First

Every creature within 500 feet hears the chains for a full minute before he arrives and knows what it is.

  • Worst Deed

Krampus knows, on sight, the worst thing a creature has done in the past year. He has advantage on Intimidation checks against that creature, and the creature has disadvantage on saving throws against Into the Basket.

  • Offering Ward

Cannot enter a dwelling where an offering has been left outside the door.

Actions

  • Multiattack

Krampus makes two Birch Rods attacks, or one Birch Rods attack and uses Into the Basket.

  • Birch Rods

    +8 to hit · reach 10 ft.

    3d6 + 5 slashing damage

A lashing with a bundle of birch rods.

  • Chain

    +8 to hit · reach 15 ft.

    2d8 + 5 bludgeoning damage

The target is Grappled (escape DC 16) and Restrained.

  • Into the Basket

One Grappled creature of Medium size or smaller makes a DC 16 Strength save. On a failure it is put in the basket: it is Blinded and Restrained, has total cover from outside, and is carried. It can repeat the save at the end of each of its turns.
