Circle of the Spores

A Druid Circle of fungus and decay with a poison spore halo, a spore-invested body in place of a beast form, and a reaction that raises weak creatures dying nearby.

Identity

The Circle of the Spores is the Druid Circle of the third kingdom, the fungi, which move material between the plants that take the light and the animals that eat them. Spores Druids work the underside: the mycelial mats that pass sugar between trees, the rot that turns a fallen hull into soil, and the compost decks of colony ships that feed a colony in its fourth year. Some have contact with the Myrrhiam Bloom and some avoid it.

Features

  • L3 Halo of Spores

You are surrounded by a cloud of spores that you control. As a bonus action, one creature you can see within 10 feet must succeed on a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC or take 1d6 poison damage. The damage increases to 1d8 at 7th level, 1d10 at 11th, and 1d12 at 15th. You have advantage on saving throws against being Poisoned and against disease.

  • L7 Symbiotic Entity

As an action, you can expend a use of Wild Shape to invest yourself with spores instead of taking a beast form. For 10 minutes you gain temporary hit points equal to four times your Druid level, your Halo of Spores damage doubles, and your melee weapon attacks deal an extra 1d6 poison damage. The effect ends early if you lose all the temporary hit points.

  • L11 Fungal Infestation

When a beast or humanoid of Power Rating 1 or lower dies within 10 feet of you, you can use your reaction to raise it. It rises with 1 hit point at the start of your next turn, acts on your initiative, and obeys your commands for 1 hour before collapsing. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and regain all uses on a long rest.

  • L15 Spreading Rot

Your Halo of Spores extends to a 30-foot radius, and you can choose any number of creatures within it when you use it instead of one. In addition, you no longer need to breathe, and you have resistance to poison damage.

  • L18 Fungal Body Capstone

You are immune to the Blinded, Deafened, Frightened and Poisoned conditions, and you cannot suffer a critical hit unless you have 0 hit points. In addition, when you would drop to 0 hit points while Symbiotic Entity is active, you instead drop to 1 hit point and the effect ends. Once you do that, you cannot do it again until you finish a long rest.
