Arcane Artificer
An Engineer Discipline that casts Wizard spells through hardware and stores a spell inside an object.
Identity
The Arcane Artificer is the Engineer Discipline built on the position that Rift energy is a material: it can be wound into a coil, annealed into a plate and stored in a housing. Artificers come from workshop lineages, from prototype divisions that were shut down and from frontier shops where a thing has to work in vacuum or the owner does not come home.
Features
- L3 Infused Item
You gain proficiency in the Arcana skill. Your Apparatus also works as a spellcasting focus for any channeler who holds it. When you finish a long rest, you can infuse one item you touch. For the next 24 hours, the item counts as a magic item for overcoming resistance, and whoever wields it gains a +1 bonus to one ability check, attack roll or saving throw of your choice made with it.
- L7 Device Spells
You learn three spells from the Wizard spell list, each of 2nd level or lower. They do not count against the number of spells you know, and they are Engineer spells for you. You cast them through a device: you must be holding a tool, weapon or piece of hardware to cast each one, and each costs its usual Charges.
- L11 Stored Spell
Once per long rest, you can store a spell of 3rd level or lower in an object you have worked on for 10 minutes. Any creature holding the object can release the stored spell as an action, using your spell save DC and your spell attack bonus. The object holds one spell at a time, and the spell remains until it is released or you store another.
- L15 Federation Authority
You have advantage on Charisma checks made with artificers, shipwrights, armorers and their guilds, and any workshop you can reach sells you parts at cost. You can also maintain two infusions from Infused Item at once instead of one.
- L18 Last Orders Capstone
When you are reduced to 0 hit points and not killed outright, your Apparatus keeps working for one more round under your last instruction. On that round, it can take one action you could have taken, using your statistics. You can maintain three infusions from Infused Item at once, and your infused items no longer expire after 24 hours, and they stay infused until you infuse another item in their place.
