Sharpshooter
A long-range Gunslinger Specialty with advantage for forgoing a bonus action, a spotter's mark, a critical range of 19 or 20, cover-ignoring shots and one shot across a star system.
Identity
The Sharpshooter is the Gunslinger Specialty of the single long-range shot. Counter-sniper detachments, solar-shooters trained on outer balconies, and assassins kept on retainer for any contract that calls for a single round from a thousand meters all belong to it, and a Sharpshooter will sit a ridge for two days to get one clean shot. The Specialty assumes distance, and most of its features stop helping inside Close range.
Features
- L3 Steady Shot
On your turn, you can forgo your bonus action to gain advantage on the next firearm attack roll you make before the end of your turn with a weapon that has the two-handed, heavy or sniper property. You lose the advantage if, before the attack resolves, you move more than 5 feet, are forced to make a saving throw against being knocked Prone or Restrained, or take damage from any source.
- L7 Spotter's Eye
As a bonus action, you mark one creature you can see within Long or Extreme range as a Spotted Target. Until the end of your next turn, the first attack roll made against the Spotted Target each round by you or an ally has advantage, and on a hit the attack deals an additional 1d6 damage. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum 1) per short rest. The mark fades if you and the Spotted Target lose mutual line of sight before the duration expires.
- L11 Headshot
Your critical hit range with firearms is 19 or 20. When you score a critical hit with a firearm against a creature at or below half its hit point maximum, roll the weapon's damage dice three times instead of twice and add modifiers once.
- L15 Phase Bullet
Once per turn, when you make a firearm attack against a creature, you can declare the shot a Phase Bullet. The attack ignores all cover short of total cover (full walls, fortifications and vehicles considered as cover) and ignores up to 4 feet of intervening soft barrier (foliage, dust, smoke, light atmosphere, glass, paneling). Total cover still blocks the shot. You can use Phase Bullet a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
- L18 System-Wide Shot Capstone
Once per long rest, as an action, you can take a System-Wide Shot. Choose one creature you can identify by sight, scope, drone feed or another reliable optical or digital feed, anywhere in the same star system, provided you have a clear enough fix to make the shot. The GM decides what counts, and line of sight through a relay drone or an orbital optic is sufficient. Make one firearm attack against the target with advantage, ignoring all cover short of total cover and all range penalties. On a hit, the attack deals its normal damage plus an additional 8d10 damage of the weapon's type, and the target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw against your Trick Shot DC or be knocked Prone and Stunned until the end of its next turn. Local authorities will know the shot happened, even if they cannot trace it to you.
