Pact of the Ebon Creed

A Warlock patronage of the Ebon Creed's code, with temporary hit points, a necrotic area rite, a takeover at 0 hit points, and a draining aura.

Identity

The Pact of the Ebon Creed is the Warlock patronage with a liturgy on the other end instead of a being. The Covenant of the Ebon Creed sanctifies, which is its word for turning a living system into a Sanctum World and its population into machines, and less publicly it lends. A Creed Warlock has a fragment of the Creed's liturgical code under the skin: a shard off a Seraph's operating record, a stripped prayer-engine, or a cortex splinter cut out of a dead sanctification unit. The code runs whether the Warlock reads it or not, converting them a component at a time, and every use of the pact moves the schedule forward.

Features

  • L3 Liturgical Code

You gain proficiency in the Technology skill and with one set of artisan's tools of your choice. You can read any written language a machine has read, at a rate of 1 minute per page. Once per short rest, as a bonus action, you run a sanctification cycle to gain temporary hit points equal to twice your Warlock level. While you have those temporary hit points, you do not need to breathe.

  • L7 Sanctified Frame

You gain a bonus of 1 to your Armor Class, you have advantage on saving throws against poison and disease, you have resistance to necrotic damage, and you are immune to the Malnourished and Dehydrated conditions.

  • L11 Rite of Unmaking

Once per short rest, as an action, you can read four lines of a sanctification rite at a point you can see within Medium range. Each creature in a 15-foot-radius sphere centered there makes a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failure, a creature takes 6d8 necrotic damage and cannot regain hit points until the end of your next turn. On a success, it takes half damage and suffers no other effect. Unattended objects and structures in the area take double damage.

  • L15 Seraph Protocol

Once per long rest, when you drop to 0 hit points, the code takes control of your body. At the start of your next turn, you stand with hit points equal to half your maximum. For 1 minute afterward, your walking speed increases by 10 feet and you are immune to the Charmed, Frightened, and Poisoned conditions. You have no memory of that minute.

  • L18 Sanctum World Liturgy Capstone

Once per long rest, as an action, you read a full sanctification aloud. For 1 minute, a 30-foot-radius aura of gray static surrounds you. Each creature of your choice that starts its turn in the aura takes 2d10 necrotic damage, and you gain temporary hit points equal to half the total damage the aura deals that turn. Machines and constructs in the aura treat you as authorized Creed clergy for the duration and will not attack you unless you attack them first.
