Reaver
A Psion Path that trades hit points for power: self-damage that boosts psychic damage, a psychic aura, healing from failed saves, psychic resistance and a stunning psychic strike.
Identity
The Reaver is a Psion who broke under the strain of the work and kept going. The break is often an overreach: too deep into another mind, too long in a shared one, or a single contact with a presence on the far side of the Rift that should have been refused. What survives is still capable and no longer bounded. Because of Reavers, most polities keep a register, the academies test annually, and experienced Psions do not open a channel to a stranger. The registers do not distinguish the hostile ones from the rest.
Features
- L3 Overreach
When you deal psychic damage with a Psion feature or spell, you can take 1d6 psychic damage yourself to add your Intelligence modifier to that damage. You are immune to the Charmed condition and to any effect that would read your thoughts, and a creature that tries to read your thoughts takes 2d6 psychic damage.
- L7 Bleed
Any creature you can see that starts its turn within 10 feet of you must succeed on an Intelligence saving throw against your spell save DC or take psychic damage equal to twice your proficiency bonus. You can suppress or resume this effect as a free action, and you can exclude creatures of your choice from it.
- L11 Psychic Drain
Once per turn, when a creature within 30 feet of you fails a saving throw against one of your Psion features or spells, you regain hit points equal to your Intelligence modifier plus your proficiency bonus and gain temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus.
- L15 Hardened Mind
You have resistance to psychic damage and immunity to the Frightened condition. When you fail an Intelligence, Wisdom or Charisma saving throw, you can choose to succeed instead and take 4d10 psychic damage that cannot be prevented. You can do this a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
- L18 Reave Capstone
Once per long rest, as an action, you can target one creature you can see within 60 feet. The creature must make an Intelligence saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failure, it takes 12d10 psychic damage, its Intelligence and Charisma scores are each reduced by 1d6 until it finishes a long rest, and it is Stunned until the end of your next turn. On a success, it takes half damage and suffers no other effect. Whether it succeeds or fails, you take 3d10 psychic damage that cannot be prevented.
