Void-Touched
A Sorcerous Origin gained by contact with an outside presence, with psychic resistance, a frightening pulse, an intangible form and a psychic burst.
Identity
The Void-Touched is the Sorcerous Origin that was reached instead of descended from. Something at the far edge of the Rift, in the Netherveil, or in whatever the Plane of Oblivion is adjacent to made contact once, briefly, and left a capability behind, and there is no ancestor to blame and no patron to petition. Most Void-Touched find out during a bad week and spend the following decade building a working theory that does not survive the next event. Many are exact people who will not sleep in unfamiliar rooms.
Features
- L3 Contact
You know the Message cantrip, and it does not count against your cantrips known. You can cast it without any component. You have resistance to psychic damage. Once per short or long rest, when you fail an Intelligence, Wisdom or Charisma saving throw, you can choose to succeed instead.
- L7 Void Answer
As a bonus action, you can spend 1 Spell Point to ask a question about your immediate surroundings and receive a one-word answer, or none. In addition, creatures have disadvantage on Wisdom (Insight) checks against you, and effects that read your mind reveal no information and deal 2d6 psychic damage to the reader.
- L11 Unsettling Presence
As a bonus action, you can spend 2 Spell Points to let part of the contact show. Each creature of your choice within 20 feet must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or take psychic damage equal to your Sorcerer level and be Frightened until the end of its next turn.
- L15 Unbodied
As a bonus action, you can spend 5 Spell Points to become partly absent for 1 minute. You have resistance to all nonmagical damage, you can move through creatures and objects as difficult terrain, and you cannot be Grappled, Restrained or targeted by an attack from a creature that cannot see the Spirit Plane.
- L18 Open Contact Capstone
Once per long rest, as an action, you can open the contact fully for 1 minute. Each creature that starts its turn within 30 feet and can see you must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or take 4d8 psychic damage and be unable to take reactions until the end of its turn. For the duration, you cannot be Charmed, Frightened, Stunned or Incapacitated, and you know the location of every creature within 120 feet regardless of cover or concealment.
