Bladesong

A Warrior Archetype of two light melee weapons, with an AC bonus while the song is up, a riposte, extra elemental damage and a 1-minute capstone.

Identity

The Bladesong is a Warrior school. Its practitioners fight with a light weapon in each hand, held in a rhythm tight enough that the pair rings at a pitch that bites things ordinary metal does not. Students spend their first two years on footwork and the next two on the pair.

Features

  • L3 The Song

The song is up while you wield a light melee weapon in each hand and wear no heavy armor. While it is up, you gain a bonus of 1 to your Armor Class, you can make the second attack of two-weapon fighting without spending your bonus action, and both weapons count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity.

  • L7 Off-Hand Riposte

When a creature within 5 feet of you misses you with a melee attack while the song is up, you can use your reaction to make one attack with your off-hand weapon against it. You can do this a number of times per short rest equal to your proficiency bonus.

  • L11 Elemental Edge

Choose a damage type from fire, cold, lightning, thunder, or force. While the song is up, your weapon attacks deal an extra 1d6 damage of that type, and you have advantage on Dexterity saving throws. You can change the chosen type when you finish a long rest.

  • L15 Evasive Movement

While the song is up, your walking speed increases by 10 feet, you can move through the space of any creature no more than one size rung larger than you, and opportunity attacks made against you have disadvantage.

  • L18 Full Chord Capstone

Once per long rest, as a bonus action, you perform the full song for 1 minute. For the duration, you make one additional attack whenever you take the Attack action, your weapon attacks score a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20, and any creature that hits you with a melee attack takes force damage equal to your Warrior level. When the minute ends, you gain one level of the Exhausted condition.
