Channel of Illusion

Casts Minor Illusion as a bonus action, reshapes illusions, makes them real to creatures that fail against them, leaves a decoy when hit and hides the wizard at 18th level.

Identity

The Channel of Illusion is the Riftcraft Tradition with the lowest energy cost and the highest failure rate, because whatever it makes depends on a mind agreeing to it. An Illusionist's craft is in the conditions around the image: what the target expects, how long they have to look, and what else is competing for their attention.

Features

  • L3 Illusion Training

You gain proficiency in the Deception skill if you do not already have it. When you copy an Illusion spell into your Spellbook, the cost is halved. When you cast Minor Illusion, you can create both a sound and an image with the same casting, and you can cast it as a bonus action. A creature that studies one of your illusions makes its Investigation check against your spell save DC plus your proficiency bonus. The Minor Illusion, Silent Image, Blur, and Mirror Image spells are always prepared for you and do not count against your prepared spell limit.

  • L7 Reshape

As a bonus action, you can change an illusion you created and can see, altering its appearance, its sound, or what it is doing, as long as the change stays within what the original spell can produce. This does not extend the spell's duration.

  • L11 Real Illusion

When a creature fails a saving throw or an ability check against one of your illusions, that illusion becomes real for that creature for 1 minute. It can block the creature's movement, restrain it, and damage it, and any damage it deals is psychic. Other creatures are unaffected and see the illusion as it is.

  • L15 Decoy Image

When you are hit by an attack, you can use your reaction to leave an image standing where you were and step 10 feet to an unoccupied space you can see. The attack hits the image instead, and the image dissolves. You can do this a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per short rest.

  • L18 Fade From Notice Capstone

Once per long rest, you can use an action to vanish from notice for 1 minute. For the duration, you are Invisible, you make no sound, and you leave no trail. No divination of 5th level or lower detects you, and a creature that has not seen you within the last minute does not recall that you were present. Attacking or casting a spell that targets another creature ends the effect at the end of that turn.
