Gnome

Small, curious, and disproportionately responsible for the galaxy's better gadgetry. Gnomish workshops cluster wherever there is interesting machinery to take apart, and gnomes themselves are over-represented in tinkerer's guilds and engineering corps.

Humanoid small Walk · 25 ft Free-placement abilities

Features

  • Gnomish Cunning

You have advantage on Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma saving throws against channeled effects.

  • Tinker's Mind

You have proficiency with Tinker's tools. Once per long rest, you may spend one hour of focused work to craft a minor gadget of your design — a single-use light source, a one-shot grappling line, a small clockwork distraction, a coded signal beacon, or similar. The gadget functions for a single use within the next 24 hours and then becomes inert.

  • Small Stature

Your small size lets you slip through gaps larger lineages cannot. You have advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks made in narrow, cluttered, or low-ceiling spaces. You can move through the space of any creature larger than Small without penalty, provided that creature does not actively block you.

  • Workshop-Tongue

You can read, write, and speak Gnomish (a precise, cipher-friendly cant) and Common.

Languages

Gnomish, Common

Lifespan

Mature at 30 · Typical max 400 years

Gnomes age slowly and tend to remain curious into their fourth century; the oldest gnomes are often the most experimental, having outlived every safety regulator they ever respected.
