Aurelion Phoenix

A Phoenix is born to the Aurelion aristocracy and fitted at adulthood with an exoskeleton. The suit draws a thread of the Rift through a captive star-core, and the light it gives off burns through a hull. A Phoenix needs no ship to cross open space. The caste is small, and its members have the Ascendant's ear.

Traits

  • Void Flight

The Phoenix can fly in vacuum at its flying speed, needs no air, and is immune to the Exhausted condition caused by travel.

  • Corona

The Phoenix sheds bright light in a 30-foot radius. A creature that ends its turn within 10 feet of the Phoenix takes 10 radiant damage.

  • Rising

The first time the Phoenix is reduced to 0 hit points, it instead drops to 1 hit point and every creature within 20 feet takes 4d8 radiant damage. It cannot do this again until it finishes a long rest.

Actions

  • Multiattack

The Phoenix makes three Sunlance attacks, or two Sunlance attacks and uses Solar Rift.

  • Stoop Bonus action

The Phoenix flies up to 60 feet without provoking opportunity attacks. If it ends this movement within 5 feet of a creature, that creature takes 2d8 fire damage.

When the Phoenix is hit by a ranged attack, the attacker makes a Constitution saving throw or is Blinded until the end of its next turn.
