Circle of the Void

A Druid Circle whose biome is vacuum: it ignores vacuum and deep cold, surveys vacuum life, lays a damaging ward and becomes a flying column of ice.

Identity

The Circle of the Void is the Druid Circle that holds vacuum to be a biome with residents: ice-crawlers in the cometary halo, lichen that eats hard radiation on a nameless moon, bacterial mats in a wrecked hull that have been eating the wreck for two hundred years. The other circles found the claim offensive until the Void proved it. A Void Druid's Inner Grove is a place with no air in it.

Features

  • L3 Vacuum-Bond

You take no damage from exposure to hard vacuum, near-vacuum, or the cold of deep space, and you do not need to breathe. You gain resistance to cold damage, and you can move across the outside of a vessel or asteroid as though it were level ground, with a climbing speed equal to your walking speed.

  • L7 Vacuum Survey

Over 10 minutes, you can survey a vacuum environment within 1 mile and learn what lives in it, how long it has been there, and what would kill it. In addition, you have advantage on saving throws against radiation, disease and poison, and you can grant that benefit to a number of creatures equal to your proficiency bonus for 8 hours by touching each of them.

  • L11 Void Ward

As an action and by expending a spell slot of 1st level or higher, you lay a Void Ward in a 10-foot radius centered on a point within 60 feet. It lasts 10 minutes. Inside it there is breathable air, survivable pressure and no ambient hazard, regardless of what is outside. Creatures hostile to you that enter or start their turn inside it take cold damage equal to 1d8 per level of the slot spent.

  • L15 Void Salvage

When a creature within 30 feet drops to 0 hit points, you gain temporary hit points equal to your Druid level. The next spell you cast before the end of your next turn costs no material component and does not consume a slot if it is 2nd level or lower. This can happen once per turn.

  • L18 Ice Column Capstone

Once per long rest, as an action, you become a moving column of ice and starlight for 1 minute. You have a flying speed of 60 feet and can hover. You are immune to cold damage and resistant to all other damage. Any creature that starts its turn within 10 feet of you takes 3d8 cold damage. You can cast Druid spells with a range of touch at a range of 30 feet.
