HDF Combat Engineer

A combat engineer wears field plate with a cabling rig down one arm and uses an assault rifle heavy enough to be awkward on a ladder. The work is cutting, welding, mining and clearing mines, done at the front of the formation where the obstacles are. Engineers use the rifle for the twenty seconds between setting a charge and getting back behind cover. Federation advances rely on them to clear obstacles placed in their path.
