Kallikantzaros
Matted fur, goat ears, a lion's tail and a grin with too many teeth in it. The kallikantzaroi live below the ground and spend the year cutting at the tree that holds the world up. For twelve nights at midwinter they come to the surface in gangs, spoil food, sour milk, ride people like horses and break whatever is not locked away. They hate fire and they cannot count past two.

Midwinter
It can only come to the surface during the twelve longest nights of the year. At dawn of the last, it returns below whatever it is doing.
