Grassland
Grass covers ground that gets too much rain for a desert and too little for a forest. The land is open to the horizon, so a party sees what is coming and is seen in turn. Fire and grazing keep trees out, so burn scars are a season old, and the herds that follow the rain feed the larger animals.
