- armorWorn protection. Sets or contributes to your armor class.
- modularBuilt to be reconfigured. Plates, pouches and inserts come off and go back on.
A full ballistic rig: aramid weave over ceramic across the chest, the back and both flanks, with a collar and a groin apron that most wearers take off within a week. It grants a +1 bonus to Armor Class beyond the ordinary pattern. Panels laid up individually, and the weave tensioned by hand so it sets true.

An armor piece changes no Armor Class on its own; the body armor is what sets it. Wearing the Ballistic Body Armor together with its head, hands, legs and feet pieces grants a +1 bonus to Armor Class.
Grades
The same object, worked to a better standard. The grade is the rung; the bonus is what the rung is worth at the table.
Armor Set
Worn together, not one after the other. The four pieces with their body armor grant a +1 bonus to Armor Class.
