- armorWorn protection. Sets or contributes to your armor class.
- modularBuilt to be reconfigured. Plates, pouches and inserts come off and go back on.
A full ballistic rig: aramid weave over ceramic across the chest, the back and both flanks, with a collar and a groin apron that most wearers take off within a week. It is the complete version of the ballistic vest. No maker owns the pattern, and plates from one arms factor's version rarely fit another's carrier.

An armor piece changes no Armor Class on its own; the body armor is what sets it. Wearing the Ballistic Body Armor together with its head, hands, legs and feet pieces grants a +1 bonus to Armor Class.
Grades
The same object, worked to a better standard. The grade is the rung; the bonus is what the rung is worth at the table.
Equipment Line
The same kit across the tiers. Later rungs replace earlier ones.
